Furlicious Academy
Build bond by engaging with your dog daily.
Phase 1
The first phase of the academy is devoted to establishing a solid foundation between you and your pup. We will work weekly on general obedience training (sit, stay, come, heel, down, off, recall, etc) while coupling those skills with both mentally stimulating exercises and bonding techniques.
You may be wondering why the emphasis on bond? Trust and respect on both ends of the leash is truly paramount to developing and shaping good behaviors. Without a strong bond your dog will not engage with you, not respect you and will not trust you. In short, bond is everything with your dog.
You will complete your K9 CPR and Pet First Aid training during this phase. You will also begin the online training component of this course as well. Each session is designed to build upon the previous session so please take your time with each module.
Phase 2
We introduce more advanced skills while still deepening your bond with your pup. During this phase, we will introduce very specific skills based on your overall training goals. For example, those who are seeking to pursue a position with a search and rescue team we will focus our 1:1 sessions around the necessary skills you will need to succeed in that field.
You will continue your online training program during this phase. We will also do a mid-course skills test. This is to help prepare you for the final exam lingering just a few weeks away. There will be another surprise guest teacher during this phase.

Phase 3
This is our final phase together and our chance to fine tune the skills you have worked so hard on during the past two phases. Together we will bring all of the skills we’ve been working on together seamlessly.
During your final skills test you will have two opportunities to pass your exam. Those who do pass will receive a certificate of completion as as well as the opportunity to join us in our graduation celebration fit for the “most goodest” of pups.
Course dates 2024 May 6, 2024 - June 21, 2024 (seven-week course)
As this is a weekly in-person course you must live in the San Diego County Area to participate.
